答案选D，但是我觉得C也没有错啊，书上说C错在有歧义，但是我觉得没有歧义，因为 information后面的定语结构是"they had"，实际上也就说明了是police而不是she.是吗？

of using和前面的of having是平行的。注意used发出的主语，是police而不是那个lawyer

答案应该是D：
简单的说，是为了避免歧义。
因为如果用used the information they had obtained to find evidence that would support，就有可能被人认为是在与suspected the police of having..... 平行。（当然，你可以认为是与taped her confidential ... ）但是GMAT 的语句是绝对不允许有二意性的！
但是如果改为 of using ... 则可以完全避免这一点，别人读起来的时候可以一眼看出来，谁在与谁平行。简单，明了。
所以只能选D！

关键是"used the info"的逻辑主语。如果与suspected平行，则主语为she,那么逻辑不正确。如果用了of using和of having平行，则逻辑主语为police，逻辑正确。
