这道题a或者e之间一直有争议。
GWd给的答案是e，他是直接按照句意读出来的，不是用语法作的。他读的a的时候把so much as 读成甚至于了。
我的理解：这道题的争议点：
（1）not。。 so much as 。。。 能不能表达“与其说，不如说”的 意思。我觉得不能。not so much。。 as。。 才是与其不如的意思。 （也有个别例句例外，so much 作状语 把修饰词放在not so之间。
（2）e的比较平行否：symptomatic（adj）+of 对否。这里有的可能有些问题，但是逻辑意思绝对很清楚。具体对e我的看法就不说出来误导你了，脑袋中语法结构已经被培训机构们毁了。
语法题，考的是逻辑意思。。。
