请问为什么是fewer than eight units?修饰数量不是用less吗。大全987注释中对937的解释有个举例是less than 100 metres。请问这个fewer 和less到底怎么区别阿，谢谢

When talking about plural nouns, you normally want to use "fewer". Otherwise, use "less". But, there are exceptions. When comparing distances and time, "less" should be used. For instance, our wedding is less than 10 days away.
