答案是B，但B中的them和they不会指代不清吗？是stars还是planets？

必须是stars啊，stars是句子的主语，一切都是围绕他进行修饰的。所以B选项没有指代不清~

有一条就近指代原则，当一个句子中出现两个以上的复数名词时，复数名词优先指代离她近的复数名词，这个原则同样适用于单数名词。所以，them和they指代stars~

(Like the planets,)是修饰the stars的，the stars是主语，前面的就可以抛开不看了。
接下来the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds（them肯定就是stars）。把some of ……看成插入语，抛开不看。
句子就成了：the stars are in motion,but they are （they 肯定还是指stars）
所以没有指代不清

个人意见，偶是菜鸟……

stars是主语啊。 like planes是介词的宾语啊。个人意见。。菜鸟一个

stars是主语，them 和they都指代它，不会指代不清。
楼主对于them和they的敏感性是可以理解的，GMAT中确实很多问题出在指代上。
我认为其它选项有更加明显的错误或指代不清。
