B答案，如果they可以指代The human nervous system and a telephone system 的话，both就是修饰The human nervous system and a telephone system的。后面的and because和前面的because平行，这样理解的话并不是both...and...句型。

如果选B的话，后面的its没有指代对象。
要从逻辑含义理解句子，第二个because后面明显描述的是神经系统可以resemble电话的一些特征，则第一个because也应该是在描述神经系统的特征，而不是两者的共同点。
