答案是E，说是修饰语位置佳，无歧义。我选的D，不懂修饰语位置什么的怎么说，怎么就有歧义了？D念起来好像最顺的。。。

个人觉得，during the 1950s是修饰整个句子的大背景，而放在句中任何位置都有修饰其前一个词的嫌疑，所以干脆放在句首。as part of their therapy也是同理，整个帮助他们练习falling这件事才是therapy。
A, during the 1950s修饰practice falling了
B,during the 1950s 修饰成在1950年生活的人了
c, as part of their therapy 成了练习falling是therapy了，而事实是帮助练习这件事是therapy
D,during the 1950s 同理
E，最好，无歧义
