 | CKGSB Professor of Finance Gan Jie | BEIJING – Gan Jie, a finance professor at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), was recently awarded the Barclays Global Investors Michael Brennan Award. Two winners are selected each year and Gan's article received the runner-up prize. This prestigious award is given annually to the best article published in The Review of Financial Studies. The award rewards and recognizes the article's important research in the field of finance. According to the ISI Journal Citation Report, The Review of Financial Studies ranked 3rd out of 52 journals in the Business/Finance categories in 2009. The Review of Financial Studies, one of the Oxford Journals, is widely used by top schools in the United States for research. Gan's article, "Housing Wealth and Consumption Growth: Evidence from a Large Panel of Households," was the lead article published in the June 2010 issue of The Review of Financial Studies. The article focuses on the effect of housing wealth on consumption and explains how these two concepts are related. Gan conducted the research by using mortgage and credit card data from 12,793 individuals in Hong Kong that was collected between 1992 and 2004. Gan was the solo author of this article, demonstrating her dedication to this vast research and pertinent topic. Gan is the first female CKGSB professor to win the Barclays Global Investors Michael Brennan Award. She is one of three CKGSB professors to win the award; the other two include finance professors Ou-Yang Hui and Liu Jun. |
