double  can be an adjective, a noun, a verb, an adverb  and a predeterminer.

double有三种用法，n,v,adj.

OG168之所以错，是因为double是形容词，不能作副词用。所以你那个double than it did仍旧是不对的，而且用THAN也是错的。

你举的其它例子，是double做动词的用法。因为double既可以及物，也可以不及物，所以后面允许不加名词独立存在，加名词，或者加IN结构。

例如：

The number of CDers has more than doubled since 2004.(vi)

A promise was given to double the number of CDers.(vt)

Within two years CD has doubled in value. (vi)

另外，TWICE是副词，可以修饰动词，OG168因此选B。
