besides, the answer choice A is weakening the claim that "soem of the nice cancellations were probably due to something else.". If only one or two airplanes involved in the nice scheduled fights, then A weakens the conclusion.

airplane is a little bit different from "flight". for instance, my "flight" is NW1234 flying from NY to Beijing. Bob's "flight" is NW5678 flying from Beijing to NY. both flights could be the same airplane.
