A项我不明白，怎么就句子不完整了?主语Alexander Pope, 谓语 begin.后面不管多复杂都是宾语.搜了
查了论坛里没有人提这个问题，我就很汗,严重怀疑自己~

人家的意思是说 a work that 后需要一个动词（that从句的动词）

that从句后面的内容修饰translation. 可以不需要动词啊，退一步说即使需要，也有taking啊~

不管什么句子,只要是句,就要有动词. 另taking不能做谓语...
你还是先看看基础语法再学GMAT吧,不然混得更厉害

我想了是不是这样的：taking him seven years until completiona 是一个伴随状语，要修饰前面的整句，而a work that不是一个句子，缺谓语。所以OG说A work that... requires a verb; without it,the sentence is a fragment.

如果把taking……当作伴随状语，不止是却谓语那么简单...除了主语全都缺

把括号里的“伴随状语”去掉读一遍：Alexander Pope began his translation of the Iliad, a work that and that literary critic ……
