求助 as..as 和 more..than 后面实意动词的省略

做过得题大部分都是实意动词不能省略的，但是遇到白勇上有两道题省略了：
1. Salt deposits and moisture threaten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an ancient civilization that flourished at the same time as the civilizationsin the Nile delta and the rivervalleys of the Tigris and Euphrates.
2. Because natural gas is composed mostly of methane, a simple hydrocarbon, vehicles powered by natural gas emit less of certain pollutants than those burning gasoline or diesel fuel.
这两句都是题目给的正确答案，但是我不明白为什么后面没有did 代替 flourished, do 代替 emit, 求各位高手指点~~~~~~~~~~~~
到底能不能这么省略？
