其次比较结构不如E清楚.

D错得一塌糊涂呀。。。。
首先 comparable as就错了，比较对象不对等。地域的面积不能和大不列颠相比，只能和大不列颠的面积相比。其次，两个逗号隔开的“, but only four million in population, ”成为了句子的插入结构，于是原句就变成了

Laos has a land area comparable to the size as Great Britain and many are members of hill tribes ensconced in the virutally inaccessible mountain valleys of the north.

此时，and后面的 many 所省略的中心与只能是Laos、area和GB这样已经出现过的名词。。。

根据GMAC的口味， E 同时符合parallelism，留意连接词 but

a land area comparable to xxx but a population of xxx
