continue真的没有现在进行时么？以及关于while doing现象

看到PREP语法笔记里面有提到continue不能用现在进行时态，但是有很多例句都是用continuing的。
Rangers, he is continuing his turnaround.
Is Obama Continuing the Bush?
还有哪位NN可以解释一下while doing现象？

我也对表转折while 、假设if、时间when的词+-ing/-ed/adj. 这一状语省略方式感到迷惑。but (表转折) +-ing 表示省略可行不？old prep sc2 45.答案B they denounce big government but supporting at the same time。。。，prep notes but连接对象不平行(they denounce but supporting)，是不是表转折while 、假设if、时间when的词+-ing/-ed/adj. 这一状语省略方式不包括but这个词。NN帮忙解答。
