这题正确答案是E,

我知道B错，但是OG说B的“The pronoun 'it' does not have a clear reference”,我就不明白了，it可以指代后面的a sketchy picture吗？

但是你按题意去理解，scholars是以ancient writers为基础，才话出picture，而不是以picture为基础，画出picture。一般的情况下，代词都出现在句子后面而不是句首。

我还是不太明白，B不就说的是picture 是base在accounts的基础上画出来的吗？

同意楼上，我也不明白唉，只知道base on不能用于修饰scholars，但这个it还是说不通啊？
