不懂为何选B，不是应该要求平行对称的嘛，后面的主句是以the rate做主语的，拿前面的从句不是也应该是rate做主语嘛？
我选的是D。
请各位大侠多多指教

我觉得如果选D的话，就成了rate和united states并列
B中并不是people作主语啊。。。哪有谓语啊。。。

B中的谓语是consume。
我觉得还是D比较并列嘛，rate和rate作比较。。。

试回答：
D.the rate of fatty foods consumed in France and the United States is about the same, the
D错。D本想用的结构是x and y are the same。我想LZ理解成了：the rate （of fatty foods consumed in France and the United States） is about the same，括号中的作rate的定语，这样一来，就成了the rate is about the same了，语义上不通。应该是rate1 and rate2 are about the same。
您说“后面的主句是以the rate做主语的，拿前面的从句不是也应该是rate做主语嘛？”我觉得不太对。比如：
Althogh the weather is bad ， I will go out。
Althogh GMAT is hard ，I will defeat it。
这两个句子的前后分句的主语均不同。
