that the comparison be completed with as instead
of like.

但是选项B中却使用cultivation, harvesting 和exploitation。为什么前后矛盾还正确阿

这道题当初也差点被这个解释搞懵来着~~
解释中讲parallel structures时，只是把cultivating, harvesting and exploiting当作一个example来说的（可以看到e.g.的字眼），这时三个动词都加ing变成gerund，这是一种平行结构。同样，其它类型的平行结构也是可以的，比如三个动词都变成名词性（如选项B中的）。。不知这样说lz是否能清楚些了呢呵呵。。

个人从这道题中得到的总结是，不要看到表面的ing形式就认为是平行，还需要仔细辨别它们的功能（如动词性质还是名词性质），有的动词有tion形式的名词，有的动词没有名词形式，某些时候只能用ing形式前面加定冠词the表达名词涵义。
