想问下这里assisting应该说的是Hydrocarbon吧？后面有个courtship，难道不会造成歧义么？

比如：
A do B，doing/done 。 doing /done 是根据意思判定修饰A或者B么？？还是说为了避免歧义如果修饰A的话用 Doing/Done ..., A do B？

伴随状语修饰前面一整句话，如果要修饰B为避免歧义的话就A do B that..直接跟在B后面

比如这句"Hydrocarbons assist flies that taste the hydrocarbons on prospective mates in distinguishing their own species from species from that of others. " taste the hydrocarbons on prospective mates 不就是限定flies的么，就没用逗号+tasting啊。
