一个小疑问，请帮忙

第二句是正确的
有几个疑问
1)Therefore 的位置改变，会不会影响原句的意思以及修饰的对象
我怎么读怎么觉得第一句很绕口，但是又说不出所以然
2)后面比较结构的was究竟要不要？比较的对象是整个句子还是名词？
请大虾指教！

不知道位置改变会不会影响意思
但是was是肯定不要的~类似于之前所预测所认为这样的意思，previously predicted等等都是习惯用法，不要加其他什么词的~我记得白勇上是这么说的~

是句子比较还是词的比较
as much water as what was previously thought?
What was省略？
