答案是：its effect on their size is not likely to be significant.
我纠结在另个选项：就是A，原文，我觉得是一个转折后接了一个it is ..that的强调句，而且这种句型我在prep题上我也见过，不知道哪里错误。

When drive-ins were at the height of their popularity in the late 1950's, some 4000 existed in the united states, but today there are less than one-quarter that many
答案是：there are fewer than one-quarter of that amount
我纠结在另个选项：the number is less than one-quarter the amount，我觉得这个不是可以吗，把4000用number代替，而上文的there are 结构也不是优选结构，而且drive-ins也不是人，也是less优先。万望指教！！

首先，第一个不是强调句。强调句要去掉it is ...that 句子成立。这句话只是一个it 做形式主语的句子。其实原句和正确答案说的意思是一样的，但答案明显更加的简洁。
然后，第二道题楼主注意到了fewer和less吧…多么重大的区别啊。 看到drive-ins were 怎能用less呢？楼主难道认为不是人的东西都要接little(less)? 正确的原则是：
many/few/each/one of 后的名词一定复数

Little/much of 后的名词一定不可数

额。。因为新东方的老师讲，less用于大多数情况，可以代替few，可指代可数也可指代不可数，few一般用于修饰人。。。被误导额。。谢谢啦
