大家好，想向大家请教几个问题：
If one begins by examining why ancients refer toAmazons , it becomes clear that ancient Greek descriptions of such societieswere meant not so much to represent observed historical fact –real Amazoniansocieties – but rather to offer “moral lessons” on the supposed outcome ofwomen’s rule in their own society .
1.正确的习语不是应该是 not so much......as......为什这里可以用but
2.rather和instead的区别到底是什么。不是有but instead to do的用法吗，这里的rather可以换成instead吗。

我认为是not to…but to…完美对称
so much 、rather是修饰成分，但我不知道这里rather可不可以换成instead。
下面这个题目：

B项错误：rather 不是连词，不能跟to come

instead后面可以加to么？（Ron）：
it's perfectly possible to have instead in front of an infinitive. for instance...
we decided not to eat at the restaurant, and instead to cook our own food at home.
technically, “instead…” modifies the verb “decided” (as does the other parallel structure), so there is no contradiction. but the point is that it's totally possible to have instead in front of to + verb.

谢谢啦我感觉这里用not so much......as......好像句意也不太对。
但是这个rather和instead我还是没怎么搞懂的。
还有大神知道吗？
