我C,B中选不清。。。
看了讨论，实在不明白，1.请问为什么大家都认为C the number就没有指代呢？为什么它就不能指代 469,000呢？
2.我以为twice the number of...就和three times the size of这样的搭配一样，是固定搭配。。。。。。

A的the numbers不如B的that number清楚。B后面的alone表示只算truck不算car

我想问C the number，如果我apply一下你关于A的看法到C，en...我觉得既然that number能指代469,000，那the number也能吧？
还有我还是以为twice the number of...没什么问题。。。

the number是能指代，但是我们选指代最清楚最直接的那个

我觉得这个东西是要看语感滴
我读第一遍时候就觉得that number感觉更顺

不过如果实在要解释
我感觉若是C，意思是twice "the number of trucks" ，指truck数量的两倍，但你又不知道truck数量是多少。你只知道两种车的总数。
