我对from what 之后的whole sentence 无法还原, 按理from what 从句应该是定语吧, 那先行词what 如果是代bones(以前的讨论稿上有人说from what =from sth. which),后面岂不是不能用appears?

如果what 是指恐龙,那bones 在从句中做蜜哩? 那位nn 帮忙还原一下该从句,解剖一下成分.

BTW , from what 这个咚咚在gwd-12-23也出现了

第一题: from what=from something that....，that定语从句修饰something，something意思上指的就是后面的dinosaur

第二题：如果what=something that it was ....很明显太冗长, 没有这个必要。a little less than half ，down from nearly
three-quarters，意思清楚也简洁的多。

BTW, 第二题好像多贴了一遍，有空重编辑一下吧。

第二题 in D ,  down ...by 意思是 减少到。。。

原句子意思为 减少了。。。与WAHT IT WAS 句关系不大

如果from sth that, sth refer to dinosaur, 那定从的先行词bones在从句中做什么成分, 好像不通啊, nn帮忙还原一下该定语从句啦!!

这里what不应该是指dinosaur, 而是指某(些)看起来象恐龙的东西.

D选项：from介词短语做状语修饰found，并不是定语从句。

这题还是不明白。我是觉得from后面该有一个宾语，否则就会问：down from，but，from WHAT？

我在题一中，found sth from what，就不足了这个宾语。为什么第二题E就不要了呢？？

困惑困惑……

今天整理GWD又遇上这题了。我不死心，我再问……

我这里还是不明白，为什么which这里会有指代句子之嫌？为什么不是就近指代minority？

而且改doing指代句子，“句子”amount---通吗？我们换个句型That non-Hispanic Whites are officially a minority in California amounts to a little less than half the population of the state, down from nearly three-quarters a decade ago.这样通吗？
