OG语法有好多wordy awkward神马的解释，请问大家是如何处理这部分的知识点的理解的？

比如：

At the end of the 1930s, Duke Ellington was looking

for a composer to assist him—someone not only who

could arrange music for his successful big band, but

mirroring his eccentric writing style as welt in order to

finish the many pieces he had started but never

completed.

(A) someone not only who could arrange music for

his successful big band, but mirroring his

eccentric writing style as well in order to finish

(B) someone who could not only arrange music for

his successful big band, but also mirror his

eccentric writing style in order to finish

(C) someone who not only could arrange music for

his successful big band, but also to mirror his

eccentric writing style in finishing

(D) that being someone who could not only arrange

music for his successful big band, but mirroring

his eccentric writing style for finishing

(E) being someone not only who could arrange

music for his successful big band, but mirror his

eccentric writing style aswell, finishing

选项分析：

A. 这个选项wordy。Not only...but also...后面的内容需要平行。

B. 正确。Not only...but also...后面的内容平行的很好。

C. 除了平行的问题外，in finishing 要改成in order to finish, 这样能更好地诠释因果关系。

D. that being someone who 太wordy了。本句不平行，并且应该使用in order to。

E. being someone会引起误解，觉得这是修饰Ellington的。不平行，in order to。

A 和D 选项解释的好坑爹啊。。。。不知道以后碰见类似的结构该怎么办：直接因为wordy就pass吗……

我觉得这做题总结到一定阶段自然就懂了。
比如这一题，A中not only ... but also的并列结构分析一下，就发现其实它们可以共用相同的主语和情态动词，不同的只是之后的动词arrange 和mirror。
所以我们可以把相同的部分（即someone who could）提前共用，从不同的地方再开始用并列结构，就是B选项的形式。
对于D，如果不加that being，someone引导的是一个完整的同位语结构，本身已经正确了。
加入that being变成定语从句，不仅being用法错误，而且that being 这个结构make no sense。所以多余。可以从语义的角度感受一下~

觉得你对D的总结好好~旧帖子被回复，好开心~ 突然有了个想法，似乎同位语/同位语从句的使用反反复复就是那么几种，不符合的其他情况都叫wordy了。
