Prep笔记里有说By+doing没有By+N来的好
是PREP SC2的32题的笔记
2) 有效用词，by doing与by+noun. 在语法上都正确，但前者强调动作，后者强调结果，在GMAT语
法中，通常是by+noun.是正确表达方式。

呵呵向你求证一个问题
这里A项里by doing的用法不对是不是也和它的逻辑主语有关？
在A里面by doing的逻辑主语是new patten而实际上应该chimpanzee
所以这也是它错误的一个原因？

说实话，这个题目我一开始也是觉得by doing是要和逻辑主语相关的

不过随着坐的题目越来越多，我发现很多题目都是选by doing而不是by n.，更有甚者直接违背逻辑主语的原则，而且也是PREP上的题目，让我很困惑，前些天发了贴，可是至今没人回复，明天再找找，发出来和这题一起讨论下，真的相对困惑

还有，提醒楼主一下，在所有的PREP里，除了这一题，其他的by都加doing算对，加by n.的不对，这里有个规律，就是by doing和through n.都是比较好的用法

但是prep上给的解释是by+noun更好
的确是比较困惑

选项A和D的区别不在于 by doing 和 by +n. 谁更优。
imitate 和 practice 都是及物动词，后面必须跟宾语。

A选项中的 by imitating and practicing 后面没有动作的对象。
所以 D 中的 by imitation and practice 正确。
