Greetings from the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UC San Diego. Your application to the Master of International Relations and Pacific Studies was reviewed by our department and nominated for admission. You should be receiving official notification from our campus Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) shortly, if you have not already, via email.
Once you receive an official notice of admission from OGS, you will be able to confirm your intention to enroll online. After your intention to enroll is confirmed, you will secure your seat in the entering Class of 2010 by submitting your $500 deposit through this website: https://irps-secure.ucsd.edu/deposit.php.
The Admissions Office will be sending an information packet, which includes all of the pertinent information you'll need to plan for your enrollment at IR/PS. The packet includes your advising worksheet, a sample course listing to help you select classes for this fall, information on career and internship services that will be available to you as a student at IR/PS, and important information regarding financial aid, housing, and health insurance. Also, please mark your calendar for Admitted Student Day, April 9. We will be hosting pre-event sessions and festivities on April 8, so I hope you will be able to join us. More information about the event will be included.
If your notification from OGS contains a "provisional admission" offer it is likely that, based on your academic background, it is recommended you participate in one or more of our preparatory programs before the beginning of fall quarter. Prep courses include: Economics, Statistics, and Analytical Writing. More information regarding your individual prep requirements will be included in your packet. These courses offer incoming students the unique opportunity to refresh their skills with IR/PS professors while acclimating themselves to academic standards at UCSD.
You will also receive an official welcome from our Dean, Peter Cowhey, who we welcomed back to IR/PS at the end of January. He has just finished his term of appointment as Senior Counselor to the United States Trade Representative. Dean Cowhey returns to IR/PS, leaving behind our strong Washington, D.C. alumni group and many accomplishments, not least of which is a significant contribution to the U.S. Trade Policy Agenda.
The packet will be mailed to the current address provided on your application. If this address is no longer current, please contact our office by Tuesday, March 2 via email at irps-apply@ucsd.edu and include 'address change' in the subject line .
Dean Cowhey, the faculty, staff and students of IR/PS join me in congratulating you on your admission to our program and look forward to welcoming you to San Diego. |
