a何解？怎么看怎么不顺眼，除了那个operate as 比较顺眼外
the peculiar distinction of being dwelling怎么那么别扭，为什么不用that?
另外，being dwellings 和as dwellings有什么区别？表示“作为..."的时候不是应该用as..吗

I think the reason why it uses "the peculiar distinction of being dwelling", not a "that" clause is because it uses "that" clause to modify "dwelling" already.
