答案是a，为什么it在这里不能用呢？

问题不在it，在于C，D，E的平行不对。
C -- it is not so much the cause of ... as much as that ...
D -- it is not so much the cause of ... so much as that ...
E -- it is not so much the cause of ... as that ...
都是用the cause 和 the breeds (dogs)比较
而A -- the cause ... is not so much that dogs ... as that the breeds ... 是dogs和breeds(dogs)比较，这样才平行。

而且it后面没有逻辑主语
