这题为什么用thus automatically informing不行呢？（不说选项中别的错误）

thus automatically informing不也可以标结果吗？？

既能修饰前面的主句主语emergency calls，又能就近修饰 telephone lines
现在分词的修饰一般都需要考虑修饰对象，很常考的考点。

收到了你的启发~不过有一点我有异议：分词在这里的歧义应该是既可向前修饰emergency calls，也可向后修饰location.对吧？

这。。。doing在句中是会有这个前后修饰不清的毛病。
可在这题不会吧。thus automatically informing，有thus，动作发出者应该是前面的。

那就不歧义了，因为ing分词优先做副词，所以只能指代了。

不会因为修饰宾语而引起修饰上的歧义。

你觉得呢？

ing分词作副词？词性当然是动词呵，你是想说作状语表目的吧
informing the operator of...and phone number of...这两个宾语不是很明确吗。

。。打错了。

我想说的是：-ing分词优先作状语，其逻辑主语是句子主语或这句话。所以不可能出现你所说的修饰宾语产生歧义的状况啊？
