再问prep1-20实在无语，版主请帮忙！

帖子都看过了，可还是没有确定的答案，希望NN能给个解释，为什么but后面没有主语就是错的而and后面就可以直接will了呢？假设没有and那么but后面跳过插入语接will不可以么？怎么能叫缺少连词，真的是太费解了~~！！

To questions in Prep, the keys are official. So C is correct.
针对你的问题：

为什么but后面没有主语就是错的而and后面就可以直接will了呢？假设没有and那么but后面跳过插入语接will不可以么？怎么能叫缺少连词，真的是太费解了~~！！

but后面没有主语也是可以的，只是这道题目里面，but后面如果不补出it，会因为has离句子开端The hognose snake太远而使得读者读起来句意不连贯(一开始做SC或许不容易体会到这一点)。
and后面直接接will是因为如果再补出一个主语it，就会因为这个句子的三个分句的三个主语都指代同一个东西并重复一遍，读起来会显得非常累赘。
SC以逻辑准确、结构简洁原则出发，凌驾于所有语法规则之上，所以这里and后面不补出主语而产生的OG10里面所谓的run-on错误可以因为以简洁优先而被忽略，相反省去了it更好。

至于句子的其他问题：

如果要单纯选出答案的话，用排除法是可以选出C的，用broadening和feigning并列直接排除ABDE
但是，LZ的问题是在于连词。这题的主干部分是这样的：
The hognose snake puts on an impressive bluff, but it has no dangerous fangs and no venom, and will fall over and play dead.
逻辑含义是说这种蛇会通过hissing，broadening和feigning虚张声势，但是实际上没有什么危险，而且，如果敌人没有被其吓到的话，它还会翻过身装死。
理解了逻辑意思就可以明白，hissing，broadening和feigning是修饰成分，描述蛇是怎样虚张声势的，应该用Ving形式，而且三个动词并列，所以AB排除。
至于lz说的but后面的主语问题，的确不一定非要主语不可，但是这题中，but后没有主语的选项ABDE结构有错误。but后面是一个完整的句子，而且句子中还有一个递进关系。如果连接两个完整的句子，就必须有一个连词在了。
ABDE中but后面的结构 with no dangerous fangs and no venom或 with no dangerous fangs and no venom都是修饰成分，本来应该是句子主干，但这里却变成了修饰，逻辑意义上也是不对的。

赞，我也是这样想的。关于对“句意清晰”的判断读多了会有感觉，不过这个句子里这个主语补出与否不是考点，其实也不用想这么细。Anyway, good question.
