Contrary to放在句首的话，其作用是对后面整个主句而言的。主句中说了并列的两点：一是BMC坚持自己的观点；二是BMC获得诺贝尔奖。一可以作为对比关系出现，二不可以，Contrary to中没说BMC的同事没获得过诺贝尔奖，没法对比。

记得是OG还是白勇语法里有讲解CONTRARY TO 不是对比人的，一般是对比观点立场等等。

答案是D吗？

白勇老师的语法课讲解认为CONTRARY TO 应跟抽象名词。

首先B违背了简洁原则：动词的被动形式convinced优于be of the conviction...这种of+名词形式。OG里面有很多类似的题目。

另外colleagues were of the conviction of ...也不符合习惯用法。要表示人有什么强烈的opinion应该用colleagues had/held the conviction...。of convictions (注意是复数）表示笼统的“有很多strong opinions”，后面也不加具体的conviction的内容。比如（Longman例句）She is a woman of strong political convictions.

可是D选项Even though 从句也是引领全句的呀！

这好像不能做为反对C的论据，C关键错在contrary to 用法unidiomatic并且being多余
