A. movies—less than those

B. movies—fewer than have been

C. movies, which is less than those

D. movies, a number lower than the people

E. movies, fewer than the ones

这是道争议题~B or E~？？！！！我的看法是

【B】the man-eater of the movies是插入语，应该用成对的逗号隔开吧，前面逗号后面分号，好奇怪的...（所以有个问题哈~！插入语可以有成对儿的破折号分开吗？）

         但是貌似大家普遍是说B的问题在于比较对象不明确...怎么不明确了，我觉得是正常的比较结构中的省略吧...省略了people

【E】成对儿的逗号倒是看上去很顺眼了，这个the ones 怎么那么奇怪啊？！呵呵 我是语法菜鸟一个哈...不知道具体不对在哪儿了...就觉得凭语感        the ones 不对...

刚才翻了下牛津词典，是这么说的

dash 破折号

1、in formal English, instead of a colon or semicolon, to indicate that what follows is a summary or conclusion of what has gone before

2、singly or in pairs to separate a comment or an afterthought from the rest of the sentence

He knew nothing at all about it — or so he said. 

这儿应该是第二种用法
