这题其实有很多老帖了，我就是还有一个另外的问题~~

如果把B项的former去掉，或者干脆连the也不要，(The) chair of the planning board for 18 consecutive years and a board member for 28 years, Joan Philkill attended more than 400 meetings and reviewed more than 700 rezoning applications. 这样是不是对的啊？

我觉得不对。如果按照您这么改的话，前面应该是一个同位语，但是一般来说同位语结构应该是: Joan Philkill, (The) chair of the planning board for 18
consecutive years and a board member for 28 years,
attended more than 400 meetings and reviewed more than 700 rezoning
applications.

并且，句子的意思是说JP作为主席和成员，参加了多少多少的会~~去掉了AS，感觉改变了句子的语气~~

个人感觉需要一个定冠词和后面的a board member平衡起来
