 我选A。请问各位大侠，原句中的depending on mass用来修饰前面句子有问题吗？

另外，D选项中加入whether，把该选项的意思改变了，成了star是否会compress itself的选择,而原句的意思是compress itself 可能成的三种形式的选择。怎么回事啊？

A 有歧义的，depending是指passing through 这个动作depending呢 还是指 compress 这个动作depending。

whether 是指这两方面：compress or not compress，和后面的3种形态无关
