answer: E, but why not B?

考点:比较, 平行，句意的哆嗦
（B)well known as much for having an eccentric personality as for skillful wax
renderings of popular public figures.
B for having.. as for skillful wax renderings （在比较形式上不一致，前面是动名词短语表动作，后面是名词短语；另外有well known再加上一个much从句意上讲哆嗦）
(E)as well known for her eccentric personality as for her skillful wax
renderings of popular public figures. 看看两个for后面是不是很漂亮的平行啊。

不过我还是不太清楚“as...as”的用法：“as...A as B” 和“... as A as B” 有什么区别啊？总是觉得很含糊！

renderings of popular public figures. 可否改成 “ well known as for her eccentric personality as for her skillful wax
renderings of popular public figures.” ?

as…as…意为"和……一样"，表示同级的比较。使用时要注意第一个as为副词，第二个as为连词。基本用法为as+ adj./ adv. +as…
白勇书上：“as+adj.+a/an+n.+as.."比较两个人或事物在某方面相同。例：Exercising is as good a way as any to lose unwanted weight.
