AGREE OF DISAGREE:
Teacher should be paid according to how
well his students perform.

Education is one of the key words in the
20th century, which draws much focus on how to improve the quality of education
currently.  Some people suggest paying teachers
in the light of how well his or her students perform, while others render it
unfair to judge teachers like this.
According to my experience as an educate for years, I contend that
teachers can't be paid or judged merely by their students’ academic results for
the following specific reasons.
(或者:I am the
last one to uphold that teachers should be paid or judged merely by their
students’ academic results with the reasons as follows.两句哪句好点不?)

To begin with, education at school often involves
a variety of subjects, which makes it impossible to have an impartial and
standard criterion to judge all the teachers at the same time.  For instance, a music teacher is mainly
responsible of cultivating students' interest in music, teaching them songs and
dances, whose performance can hardly be valued by simple statistics of
students' marks whereas a math teacher may easily get those grades out after an
examination.

Further more, whether a student performs
well or not can't be ascribed completely to his or her teacher since the
student's attitude towards study usually outstrips the teacher's role in
his/her performance.  Provided that the
teacher acts sluggish in his work, while by contrast, the student is assiduous
and diligent in self-study and gains a strait A eventually.  Can we simply praise the teacher and lift
his/her salary like that?  On the other
hand, if the student always escapes classes and exams whereas the teacher
dedicates him/herself wholeheartedly to the education cause and to his/her
students.  We still can't blame the
teacher for that slothful/indolent student's unsatisfying academic performance.

Last but not least, a teacher's
contribution to the research area, especially in universities, is also a vital
part of his working ability.  There are
different directions of professors, one is to teach students academic facts and
train them, the other is to focus on his own researches and release findings
and discoveries of his field of work.
Therefore, it will put the judge in a dilemma of whether to merit the
one who has trained a great number of excellent students or to grand the
professor who just released an influential article in "Science".

To sum up, although to pay teachers
according to how well his students perform is suggested in the motivation of
improving the quality of education, there are still too many unreasonable and
implausible aspects stated above to implement this idea. Hence I deem it unfair
to pay them by their students’ performance.
