Not one of the potential investors is expected to make an offer to buy First Interstate Bank until a merger agreement is signed that includes a provision for penalties if the deal were not to be concluded.
请问not one of ... 还有为什么是if the deal were而不是was?

umm...我覺得none of=not one of. OG11(Yellow)#17 None of the attempts to specify the causes of crime explains why most of the people exposed to the alleged causes do not commit crimes and, conversely, why so many of those not so exposed do.
这点跟not one of是有点区别的... Not one of the potential investors,answer里的谓语动词用的也是单数形式...
None of the attempts to specify the causes of crime explains why most of the people exposed to the alleged causes do not commit crimes and, conversely, why so many of those not so exposed do.
"None of X" is always singular regardless whether X is countable.
以下是引用AlienX在2008-9-5 10:53:00的发言: if X were to [do something], Y would/might/could [do something]. X were to [do something]不可能在會happen in the future.
if X were [something], Y would/might/could [do something].
