问题：本题比较的两个对象都是its crust 第二个分句省略可以明白，可是为什么还可以省略B选项的was呢？
Previously不是用来提示用过去时间的吗？

more than expected, less than estimated, greater than thought .... 习惯都是这样表达的。

此外，B的错误在于concluding. 分词形式在句末表示伴随产生的结果，而显然found和concluded的发起者都是scientists，应该用平行并列的结构

感谢LS 在请教一个问题
S V O, doing。。。的句型里，doing 的逻辑主语有以下几种情况：
1。doing做结果状语，整个句子是doing的主语
2。doing做伴随状语，修饰的那个动作的主语就是doing的逻辑主语
想问下，那doing的逻辑主语可以是宾语O吗？

还有一个问题这里省略was的话时间上不会造成歧义吗？
明明是过去的时间和主语的时态不一致啊

这题只需要观察选项的后部。

在比较中，more...as.. 和 as...than...都是错误的句式，A和E排除。
如果是表达 “大于或等于” ，可以使用 as....as...or more...than... 或者 at least as...as...句式。故B和D错误。

至于其他的差异，我都没去斟酌。如果楼主非要斟酌B选项的was，我真是不懂，还请指教。

as much ...as是正确的。
as previously thought, was 省略，
即the planet's crust was thought to be harbouring ...

个人认为B的concluding没错，这里就是做结果状语啊，也同意二楼：”more than expected, less than estimated, greater than thought .... 习惯都是这样表达的“说法，was是应该被省略的
