想听听大家的意见 HEC or EDHEC

to ls, cannot understand why i cannot send out my reply message to you mail-box.

so, just write here.

you mean the employeement opportunities after graduation from HEC?

1/ it is not so easy to find a full-time job in france even you graduate from HEC. it is not about the language. it is just because the economic situation plus the french corporate culture don't allow french companies to offer full-time job to anybody even including french themseleves so easily.

2/ if a french company wants you, it is more possible it wants to send you back to china to develop business in the chinese market in the future. so, many people will still go back to china after a few years of european w/e. i dont know how french companies treat their employees in the chinese branch. but in france, once you are recruited, your life is almost safeguarded since it costs a lot for the french company to fire an employee. this also explians why french are so god-damn lazy...

3/ sure, some people still can find a way to stay here, as long as they can speak fluent french, have good personal network, or simply get married with french... it is acturally the same to other european countries. but, does it deserve to do so? personally, i really cannot imagine how to live in france for such a long time...

i will miss the chinese food, chinese gal, and my family. the most critical is i will have more opportunities in china than in france,

ps, i will just graduate from HEC this month.

job hunting situation in france or in china?

in france, already stated it clear, it is not easy to find a full-time position immediately upon graduation. you can, but need to take time, hinge upon your language and network.

in my intake, one is working in a financial company as an intern.

one now is back to her former employer in china

one is doodling around enjoying the life in europe.

one is going back to china to apply job in a US company.

Totally agree with u. No matter HEC, ESCP, ESSEC, or EM LYON, job situation this yr sucks...I mean, full-time type. But to the GE program ,finding a intern is much easier.

To dhdlorent :

what is the importance of language, i mean the French in job hunting.

I
am working in commerial in France for 3 years and plan to apply HEC MBA
in these days. I discusse with my friend from HEC Msc, he thinks that
HEC MBA is famous but not welcome in France or in Europe, which gives
me some doubt about HEC MBA. and your confirm my friend's words in some
ways.

For me, I apply for MBA to develop myself in commercial
and management domain which is new for me because of my pure
enginneering background. I don't care that I would go back in Chine
someday, but before that, I hope to work in France or europe for some
years after graduate. If you are right, it means that I would lost at
once my chance to stay in France that I do not wish to see.

Following what you are experiencing now, what could you advice me?

please

thanks.

Thanks JIJO,

In fact, language itself may not guarantee a full-time job in france. for example, some chinese majoring in french still went back to china after the internship.

other elements, like the w/e in france or any european country pre-mba, as you got,and personal network, will jointly influence your chance of working in france or europe after graduation.

in your case, i dont know which kind of industry you are working in, and whether you want to go back to your former industry or former employer. if you want to go back to your old trade, is it necessary for you to still stay here, given the fact that you have already got the w/e in france?

but if you want to change industry, well, it may be necessary to stay here for another couple of years before moving back to china. you need to negotiate it with your interested company as early as possible (during your MBA study) with your previous exposure in the french commercial sector. it is possible, though not guaranteed...

are you going to apply for the Sept intake this year? if yes, then you need to speed up your application, since the time now is kind of late. you can still be admitted, but the chance of getting a good amount of scholarship will decrease dramatically.

Good Luck!
