why not send an email to them saying you got offer from Duke and UMN and you need to know the result earlier? By the way, what is the DL to make the decision for these two school?
Thank you for your advice. For Duke, I believe they made the decision together and then assign certain amount of offers to a few faculty members. So those faculties would have to keep in contact with those to whom they sent out the first round offers. The one who contacted me is an indian guy who is interested in Econometrics.
For Calson, it is Professor Aggarwal. The spelling may not be exactly correct.
I am sorry I didnot state my question clearly. I am asking when is the deadline for making decision for these two schools.
So you are also doing econometrics? which part are you interested in? I am thinking about doing some risk management modeling, but it seems they dont like my SOP.

Oh,no, my background is in statistics, so they might be interested in it. I have no idea what Econometrics is right now. For Duke, the DL for making decision is 4.15 as usual. For Carlson, I don't quite know.
I don't know if SOP is the crucial part of their evaluation, but maybe the PhD director likes those whose interests cater to his own flavor.
