D. to be able, from a one-page writing sample, to assess

Correct answer is D. However, I do not understand why C is not correct.
OG explains "the ability ... of assessing" is not a correct idiom. But
it sounds OK to me. For example, searching "ability of doing" in google
gives 274,000 hits. 求助!!!

這是我上課的老師說的，很多字的用法是固定的，

所以C 要改成the ability, from a one-page writing sample, TO assess

很多用法不能凭感觉哦, google的也不代表是GMAT所要求的buz English,最好还是能查查字典

朗文字典是很好的参考,网站是 http://pewebdic2.cw.idm.fr/

楼上的说对了一大半,但我查了下朗文

关于capability是capability to do something ;capable是capable of (doing) something

至于GMAT里面的用法我不是特别确定和朗文的一样,有待考证, 这里我贴出朗文的用法给大家参考
