我选的是B,但是OG解释说, as 连词,必须引导一个从句,而不能引导以个短语. 但是事实上,as 可以做介词用接名词啊,在句子里理解为"作为紧占世界百分之五的人口"为什么不行啊

citizen是人，5 percent是数字，只能说人构成5 percent，不能说人是5 percent。

我本来也是选B的, 看了答案后. 琢磨了半天. 我觉得是不是 citizen 不能做population的主语, United States 能做.还有这个句子需要含有一个转折词在这里, 逻辑让才通顺点.

奇怪....我的OG紫皮书上, 这道题的答案是E.

不过我对E项也有点疑问: 记得黄皮那本, OG11-09题, 解释里说到although后面通常接从句. 但是这里的although却跟的是分词短语结构. 请NN们指点~~~

如果although/even though/while的主語跟主句的主語一樣&although/even though/while的main verb的時態跟主句的一樣, 從句的主語一樣, 從句的主語可以省, 可是要把從句的main verb改成現在分詞.
OG10的例句:
95.     Along with the drop in producer prices announced yesterday, the strong retail sales figures released today seem to indicate that the economy, although growing slowly, is not nearing a recession.
158.    Although accounting for only 5 percent of the world's population, United States citizens consume 28 percent of its nonrenewable resources, drive more than one-third of its automobiles, and use 21 times more water per capita than Europeans do.

在ＯＧ上能查到的实例中，都是although + doing的形式，这个看来已经没有问题了。但是，如果出现although+done这种结构，而逻辑主语也跟主句的主语一致，算不算对呢？

再用ＯＧ１１－０９举例：

Sunspots, vortices of gas associated with strong electromagnetic activity, are visible as dark spots on the surface of the Sun but have never been sighted on the Sun’s poles or equator.

如果有这样一个选项：

X) are visible as dark spots on the surface of the Sun although never sighted at

这里的逻辑主语和主句主语一致：sunspots are visible... although (sunspots are) never sighted at...

该不该选呢？

我觉得对应主语United States citizens ____ only 5 percent of the world's pupulation

D citizens being only 5 percent of the population 逻辑上说不通

B citizens as only 5 percent of the population 逻辑上也说不通

同理C和A都不行

只有E citizens accounting for only 5 percent of the population 在逻辑上是对的

个人的理解啊，仅供参考
