This is a tough question.  It sort of test your logic.  Since Soviet audience have seen some coverage, then the sentence should convey that

'although not all ... were carried live, some were, so audiences have seen some'.  If you keep the original meaning of the sentence, then how can

'Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of coverage'?  This question is kind of stupid.

En, I see your point.  But then you would want to say 'Although none of .... were carried live' to be more idiomatic.  

逻辑上有点问题这个题。
