Hey, folks, I am current first year student at Duke, I was also surprised to find that Duke delayed the R1 decision date almost one month this year but set the submission deadline same as last year, yet I found some other sides to explain the postpone.

1. Some alumni may find it time-constrained to provide interview evaluation before Dec 19 when school officially close.

2. Typically Duke doesn't care so much about yield rate, I doubt whether there is any change on this philosophy originated from change of the Dean, putting the decision release date later may positively enhance yield rate.
