People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge).Why do you think people attend college or university?

下面是我的作文：

In our country, more and more students make the choice to attend college rather than to go to work. There are many reasons included in this phenomenon. I believe that the three most common reasons are to be more competitive in getting a decent job, to get a more mature stage in their individual development and to fulfill the integrality of education.

First and foremost, it is universally acknowledged that today to get a decent job need more special knowledge than in the past. High school education just gives us general knowledge. But the vast majority of jobs need much more special knowledge. It is hard to image that a person with high school degree can get a job in a high-tech company. And college education gives this special knowledge just we need to hunt such a decent job.

To such a paramount reason, another must be added, there is no denying that attending college can not only get more knowledge, but also get a more mature ways of thinking. Usually, college is far from our home. And we must be independent because we hardly get the help from parents. Further more, we also need to learn communicate with other people in an efficient and mature ways for get help from classmate, professor, academic adviser etc. In conclusion, college is the best place to make us be more mature.

Last but not least, admittedly, in college a system education of both special knowledge for job and philosophy for being a man is available. As a matter of fact, many people hold the perspective that it is not an integrated education, even not an integrated life, without college education. College education gives us not only special knowledge for future career, but also knowledge in humanities. Take some subjects such as history and literature for example, they all promote our all-around development. So many people attend college to fulfill their integrated education and life.

Undoubtedly, without college education a young man would lose countless opportunities for success in the future, which might be a great pity in his life. Therefore, if you want to get a decent job in this competitive society, if you want to be more mature, if you want to fulfill your education integrality, attending college undoubted is an inevitable avenue.
