答案C，纠结在C和D之间
如果知道extremophiles是什么意思很容易选出来。但是做题不知道这是什么意思，读句子时整个句子在描述Inhospitable places tend to be...怎样了，后面顺理成章认为Inhospitable places are called....也很通顺，也很平行，所以选了D

请问D选项在不知道单词意思情况下，还有什么其他致命错误要排除的？谢谢！

划线部分从flourishing 到are， sorry弄不出来这个线

抱歉来晚了，最近有点忙，
seeming这是个系动词~~~~看起来像，我个人总结系动词有哪些（色（look）声（sound）香（smell）味（taste）触（feel）还有其他不一一赘述，u get the point）
这些词是在干什么，描述作用对吧~~~
举个栗子
eg：1，Ama looks beautiful in that dress tonight。
2，ama is looking beautiful in that dress tonight。
区别一下这两个句子，#1正确，2#错误。为什么？我们用常识判断一下，我们是说ama漂亮这个事实，（一般现在时）就足够，还是说这ama is looking（be ing持续进行）beautiful ？INTENDEN MEANING 是ama looks beautiful。足以~~

语义为王。选项让你找修饰microbes（微生物），判断依据是后面两个单词flourish（茁壮生长）和extremophiles（极端微生物）！D选项，成了修饰places，和后面毫无关联。
