GMAT is preferable for management. Either one is not easy. Easy = no value; Difficult = hight value. Difficult to predict your chance. You can compare the background of current students to yours.
Money is not the key issue. The question is whether lz wants to spend 5 years in a degree which might not be necessary for his career goal.
Back to the question. I think your background is fine, although the information is too limited to make a judgement. But if you limit yourself to the schools in CA, you really need some luck. Every school only admits a couple of students... You also need a good GMAT.
Why money is not a key issue? Some professors switch universities because other universities can pay more. Most classmates' career goal is to get tenure and have comfortable life.
