I think for most PhD students, the answer should be "NO". But there are some exceptions: 1. If you have published significant books or papers in China or U.S, you can apply as "outstanding intellectuals" . Actually I am not sure about the specific term for this, better consult an immigration attorney about this. I know several people became permanent residents by this way. 2. Employer-sponsored immigration or self-employed immigration. 3. Marriage with a U.S. citizen. |
