１．as．．．as．．中as后面的内容是否需要对称？

       sth were as disturbing to his own time as they are compelling for ours.　这样一个接词一个接句子也可以吗？

２．any medical test will sometimes fail to detect a condition when it is present and indicate that it is present when it is not. 这句话如何翻译啊？

３．according to sb,there has been a great deal of confusion about whether obesity is a biological discorder or a condition.这里about后面的句子是做什么成分呢？是不是省略了一个that？

       sth were as disturbing to his own time as they are compelling for ours.　这样一个接词一个接句子也可以吗？ 可以

for example : you can eat rice as much as you can.    
        

两个as都是连词，用于比较的结构，两个as 要成对出现。

is present and indicate that it is present when it is not. 这句话如何翻译啊？

我还是翻意思好了。任何的medical tes的结果都有可能不准确，如显示为阳性而实质上是阴性，或是显示为阴性，而实质为阳性。

condition.这里about后面的句子是做什么成分呢？是不是省略了一个that？

whether-clause作介词about 的宾语。whether 和that 一样可以引导宾语从句。
