more questions:
Due to some reason, the applications were submitted very late(like 3/1), so the guy did not apply for financial aid yet ( he did not expect any admission at all), is it too late to do so? is it a better idea to postpone one year?

how to tranfer status from H-1 to F-1?

Without knowing much of your particular situation, of course Michigan is the best of the three. If you need to stay in DC or Chicago, then Georgetown or NU would make sense. Don't defer law school just for the sake of GC which who knows it is gonna take how long to get. Congrats!

llm is a differnt game. if you are going for llm on an F-1 visa, please choose a big city. Michigan may not be the best for you.

for JD, go for the best ranked school. This is a no-brainer. Michigan

First, congratulations!!!!

Second. I am thinking of the same thing. In my opinion, I think you should just file it. It won't hurt. You can wait for 485 while you are in law school. (That's what I decided to do before law school.) But expert opinion needed on this one.

There will be more options with green card. Don't wait.

I vote for Georgetown. Location is good. Weather is much nicer than the other two.
