根据意思，able to 的逻辑主语应该是people，而不是household labor，因此为了避免歧义，even if 后面应该补出逻辑主语they.据此可排除A、B。

同时句中有一个对过去事件的虚拟语气，即grandparents 如果见到appliances 会感到miraculous，但事实上没有见到。因此要用would have，据此排除D

而E选项的后半句的表述有点类似被动语态，有点迂回曲折，不如C选项的后半句来得简洁明了，根据主动优先的原则，C更合适。
